For eight nights, in 1963, Keith and his brother, Bill, raced number 55 at Flamboro Speedway. Keith didn't race again until he came back with a flat head Ford, number 84, in 1969. In 1973 he changed to a six cylinder and won his first feature. He was most popular driver in 1971 and in 1975 he won the seasons end and also 4 or 5 features in a row. Keith was a hobby club committee member but his most notable achievement was his fund raising abilities. In 1972 he began raffling off bottles of liquor and cases of beer and one summer he raised over $2000 for the club. When rules changed and alcohol was no longer permitted at the track, he began to sell 50/50 tickets instead. Keith's sons, Brian, Steve and Chuck raced hobby cars and in the late 80's he had the chance to compete against the three of them. |
