Wayne started drag racing in 1965. When he won a lawn chair he decided it was time to move on to better things. In 1966 he raced on dirt at Hideaway Speedway in New Hamburg. He raced a 1957 Ford number 112. He then moved up to the diamond division and raced a 1963 Mercury Meteor. He then drove a late model, a modified sportsman, in the compact division and a modified. He then stopped racing for two years and worked at Flamboro Speedway as a Tech Inspector. In the early 80's he purchased a hobby car, number 99 and raced with the club until he retired in 1991. Wayne was on the clubs committee for many years. His father, Earl raced jalopies in the late 40's. |
