Night #3 recap
On Saturday night the Young Driver’s Canadian Vintage Modifieds returned to the 1/3 mile oval of Flamboro Speedway for night #3 of the young season. In the first 3 races we have seen 3 different winners in each race. In the first race of the night we saw the #19 of John Karley start on the pole in the first race with Dale Lucas starting to his outside. On the first lap chaos struck as the #7 of Quintin Murdoch and the #30 of Lucas got together which sent the #30 into the outside wall hard getting heavy damage to the right side of the car. After the caution the top 6 ran nose to tail with no one getting the edge that was until the #18 of Jerrid Morphy who was running second got light in the rear and went for a slide. Going for a slide himself was the #8 of Ricky Willigar, Ricky appeared to have some damage and pulled off for the rest of the race. On the restart John Karley took the point and you could throw a blanket over the top 4 running nose to tail for the final 7 laps with the #19 of John Karley taking the win with the #15 of T.J Marshall coming second and the #5 of Mike Podd placing third. This is John Karley’s first feature win since 2019.
The second feature saw the #38 of Doug Hood starting on the pole with the #18 of Jerrid Morphy. On the wave of the green flag Morphy jumped out to an early lead and the battle was on for second. For a few laps it was the #38 of Hood and the #5 Mike Podd but just could not get around the #38 after sliding high in turn three which allowed the #15 of Marshall to slip by Podd to take on the #38 while Morphy in his #18 ride was off to the races with a substantial lead. Once the #15 got by the #38 he brought a couple more cars with him. John Karley and Doug Hood started battling for position when coming out of turn 4 the #38 got loose and the left rear tire hit Johns right front and sent him for a spin in the infield. The #19 got re fired and rolling again not bringing out a caution. When the checkered flag flew it was the #18 of Jerrid Morphy collecting his first career win with the Canadian Vintage Modifieds. Second place went to the #15 of T.J Marshall and the #5 of Mike Podd coming in third.
