Season That Never Was
On October third the Young Drivers Canadian Vintage Modifieds ventured to Flamboro Speedway for the annual Frostoberfest event. 15 teams made their way to the 1/3 mile oval for what started out as a picture perfect day. Teams rolled through the gates and started getting their cars unloaded for the days events. Teams had a 20 minute practice session to tune their cars to set them up for qualifying and the race which would take place later in the day. Once practice was over the teams set to work making adjustments for the days events. The #18 of Jerrid Morphy came into the day 5 points behind the #15 of TJ Marshall who was unable to make the day but had former champion David Elliott step into the #15 for the day. David hadn't been behind the wheel of a Vintage Modified in 12 years. In the feature Jerrid had to finish 6 positions in front of Elliott to secure the championship. Qualifying time came and it was the #8 of Ricky Willigar sitting on the pole for the days event with championship hopeful Jerrid Morphy starting to his outside.
The features started and the Mini Stocks and Pure Stocks started out the day with their races running clean and green for the most part, Then came time for the Late Models and a shower came across the track putting a damper on the event as it lasted roughly 30 mins for the track to dry. Once the Late Model event was done it was time for the Super Stocks and after a lengthy red flag and multiple cautions it was time for the Young Drivers Canadian Vintage Modified to take to the track. Once cars were on track the rain started to fall. Ultimately ending the night without the Vintage Modifieds completing their feature race. Congratulations to the 2020 Young Drivers Canadian Vintage Modified Champion TJ Marshall and David Elliott. Congratulations to the Rookie of the Year #8 Ricky Willigar.
